I always thought of birds as one of my blind spots, artistically. I never seemed to get them quite right - they were either too exaggerated, or I concentrated too much on making them believable, in which case they ended up looking a bit lifeless. But recently I've started sketching them more frequently, and I've been really happy with the results. Here are a few I knocked out today:


I'm quite happy with these little fellas. I used a brand new nib too, which has helped give these sketches a scratchy quality that suits them nicely. Now I just need to get the hang of drawing horses...
