“Rob has been a fabulous addition to The Sunday Times’ Money section — he hit the mark every week; was always reliable, flexible and easy to deal with; and used a lot of bright colours in his work which cheered up the section enormously. Working with Rob is one of the things that I most miss about editing the section since I moved to the Newsdesk.”
Becky Barrow (News Editor and former Money Editor, The Sunday Times)
“Rob’s unerring talent for distilling the essence of a news story into a witty, original and accessible cartoon — sometimes with very little notice, and always without complaint about it — has been a real pleasure to witness at first hand. A rare talent and a true professional.”
Joe Churcher (Assistant Editor, The Press and Journal)
"Rob’s illustrations are a highlight in each and every edition of the magazine. He can pick out a minor detail from any source material and create the perfect cartoon from it. His work in the world of beer resonates with those that work within it, and I always look forward to hearing readers’ feedback each month!"
Tim Sheahan (Editor, The Brewers Journal)
“A cartoonist of genius. Since Rob first illustrated one of my books, I have got to know him well and I can honestly say that not only is he a brilliant artist, he is also one of the funniest and brightest people I’ve ever met.”
Dr Kevin Dutton (Psychologist & Author)
I've been a cartoonist for magazines including Private Eye and The Spectator since 2008. I also draw a regular cartoon for The Sunday Times each week, which appears in the paper's Money section. Other magazine clients include Reader's Digest (UK & US), The Oldie, The Critic, The Week, Prospect, Viz and History Today.
I was the regular pocket cartoonist for Scotland’s Press & Journal newspaper between 2012 and 2018, and was nominated three times for Cartoonist of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards for my work in the paper.
My cartoons have been used by Saatchi & Saatchi, Penguin Random House, Cambridge University Press, The Open University, and many others. I have illustrated bestselling books and I produce artwork and humorous editorial for a broad range of businesses. I have also written jokes for well-known greetings card brands.
In 2020, I teamed up with the psychologist and author Kevin Dutton to launch Bottle Moments: a social-media project through which I have been drawing personalised cartoons to lift the spirits of frontline key workers as they support us during the Covid-19 pandemic. I've drawn more than 225 of these cartoons to date (and I'm still going!), with the project receiving a wide range of media attention including feature spots on ITV and on BBC Radio.
I have twice been shortlisted for pocket cartoon of the year at the UK's Political Cartoon Awards. I have also won a national cartooning competition, which was run by the Independent/i newspapers and voted for by readers.
I'm always happy to sell my original drawings, and frequently take on bespoke commissions from individuals as well as editorial and corporate clients.
