After the success of our previous Bottle Moments initiative during the first Covid-19 lockdown - in which I drew 300 personalised cartoons to lift the spirits of frontline key workers - psychologist Dr Kevin Dutton and I have launched Bottle Moments 2.
And this time, we're focusing on kids.
This lockdown is an uncertain and worrying time for many children who are unable to socialise with other kids and are being homeschooled and kept indoors, cut off from their friends and without their familiar routines.
This project gives them an opportunity to focus on something they are looking forward to after the pandemic. As well as being beneficial to their mental health, I hope it will also encourage many more children to develop a love of drawing that they might take into later life!
We're asking kids across the UK to draw their Bottle Moment - the one thing they most want to do when everything gets back to normal - and share them with us via social media.
At the end of lockdown, Kev and I will pick out some drawings that caught our eye, and TV presenter Ben Shephard will select his favourites - 10 from each of four age categories. I will then draw my own interpretation of these children's Bottle Moments, and they'll receive the drawing on a special commemorative mug.
More details - including downloadable bottle templates - can be found at bottlemoments.com.
Happy drawing!
